Through a joint effort with EPRI and American Electric Power (AEP), we have installed our latest high temperature strain gage modules on high temperature boiler header piping to monitor cracking in real time. The high temperature gages are pre-installed on weldable shims for easy installation free of special adhesives and soldering in the field. The […]
Testing long distance data transmission of high-bandwidth sensor data @ beautiful Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. We tested two different antenna types, both were successful in transmitting data from 4 of our coaxial vibration sensors @ a bandwidth of 22kHz each, over a distance of 4.66 miles (7.5km).
We have been spending this time massively upgrading our manufacturing capability. Our next generation high-temp printable strain gages can now be built 100% in-house. We are proud to have worked with Elliot Hansen from East Coast Induction. He worked as a RF telemetry engineer on the Apollo program and we are proud to be working […]
Modern grid issues, old age and flex-ops has brought numerous new problems to the hydropower industry. One of these is generator rim float. Hydroelectric assemblies are rather stout and can run with minor float issues but as the problem worsens it can lead to an irregular air-gap, key fretting, accentuated magnetic forces between the rotor […]
